In Love with Lichen 2018

piece: 9 ½" x 7 ½"

Wool yarns, mainly naturally dyed

The tree is mainly plain weave with some knotting  to give a raised effect. Soumak weaving is used here to represent small patches of lichen on the trunk. The sky is mainly plain weave with blending of various blue, blue-green and blue gray yarns. The falling leaves are also in plain weave so that they appear flat. Although they have some of the same colors as the brightly-colored lichen below, I wanted to make sure they were distinct from them.
